Welcome to Year Two!

Mrs Thorstensen-Woll, Mrs Gleeson, Mrs Fox and Mrs Parsons look forward to working with the class this year.

Our topic this half term is Dinosaurs!

Please take some time to read our curriculum newsletter for this term to find out more about what your child will be learning.

Homework

Firstly, we would like to thank you in advance for all your help supporting your child with their learning at home. We know that life is busy and appreciate all that you do to work alongside us in your child’s learning.

Homework Project: Year 2 have been set the task of completing a project supporting our topic of Dinosaurs. This is due into school by Friday 9th December 2022 ready for them to present to the class during the last week of the half term. We are very much looking forward to seeing what they produce.

Reading: Information on how to support your child's reading using the new Little Wandle scheme will be available soon.

Times Tables: It is very important that your child knows their times tables as this will support them in their Maths lessons. In Year 2 they should know their 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Later this term, Year 2 will take a weekly speedy tables test.

Spelling: New spelling homework will be sent home every Wednesday to prepare the children for a spelling test on a Monday. Spelling folders are to be returned to school every Monday so that the spelling scores can be recorded in them and new spellings added for the following week. Children in Year 2 are also expected to have learnt a number of common words. To support your child, please also encourage them to learn the Year 1 and Year 2 common words. These can be found on the spelling document below.
