Year 1

Welcome to Year 1!

Miss Holloway, Mrs Ball and Mrs Cahill are looking forward to working with the children in class this year.

Our current topic is: Our World

A little reminder of our weekly timetable,

P.E. - In year 1 our P.E. days will be on a Wednesday and Friday this term. Please make sure children bring in their full P.E. kits of, shorts, t-shirt (white or burgundy), socks, and trainers or plimsolls for these days.  It is advisable that all children bring in their P.E. kits on Monday and leave in school until Friday in case we do extra P.E. lessons or other activities.

Lots of children are 'losing' their belongings at school, please ensure they are all clearly labelled with names to help us return items to their owners. :)

Home Learning - Please see recent letter. Year 1 will have common exception words sent home each half term, they will be required to know how to spell these by the end of year 1, if you have lost any of the bookmarks with the words on please come and see a member of year 1 staff.

Library books - In year 1 our library day is Monday. We will encourage children to select appropriate reading books that they could read independently or perhaps a book you may share with them. These will be renewed every Monday, so please make sure your child brings their library book in each week.

Our topic for this half term is Our WorldThe children have been learning about different countries and their cultures, this has included different food tasting and exploring different methods of art. It has been a very exciting and fun filled topic which the children are thoroughly enjoying!
